I just bought Quicken Deluxe 2009 (This is my first personal finance software purchase – I have NO idea what I’m doing). I love that the program can show spending per category, and income information, but I noticed that after linking to my online banking it only includes information for the past month. Is there a way to get the rest of my history on there short of entering it by hand? Should I have waited to install it until Jan 1st?

I am a young professional and was looking for the best personal finance software to manage my budget and banking the best. As a present, I got Intuit QuickBooks “Simple Start”, but it reads like its better for business than personal finance. Is this a good software to use, or should I exchange it for something else?

I am interested in which personal finance software is a good choice. I want to be able to link my many accounts (several checking, savings, credit card, loans, etc.) accounts easily. All the banks I have offer online syncing, but they don’t all seem to work with any one software. Also, it would be nice to have things such as bills, frequent flier mile programs, and other online accounts easily accessible.

I’ve been using Microsoft Money since 2002, so I have over 7 years of financial data. However, now the Microsoft is leaving the personal finance mgmt business, what is the best alternative? An important requirement is that I save these 7 years of information. I would like web based, but I must be able to import my current information. I have stock information, retirement info, various bank accounts and credit cards.

What is the best personal finance management software today?

  12. Rosa May 5, 2013 at 4:21 pm #

I currently have Microsoft Money 2000, and I seriously need an upgrade because it’s so old and out of date.

Can anyone recommend a good and easy to use program that I can buy/download?

What do you use and would you recommend it to others?

I just need to perform basic functions such as tracking balances/debt, making car/home/saving budgets, tracking spending habits, etc.

Nothing crazy like stocks or investments.

    thanks.

I have really enjoyed quicken on my desktop, but I would like for both me and my husband to have access, preferably from anywhere, which means it would need to be something we can log into online, and on blackberries. I have tried quicken online but the interface is awful. Mint has a great interface but no way to enter pending transactions…
searched thompson and got a bunch of press releases, but nothing about personal financial software.

I’m trying to find a good basic financial planning software program that can help me keep up with household accounts and expenses. I would also like to learn about (beginner level) investing. I am looking for a software program or programs that can do this that other people like and have tried successfully. I’ve read reviews of various programs on a few major consumer sites and I find myself more confused than when I started. I need to balance the checkbooks, do taxes, calculate interest, watch regular payments and try some beginning investments. I’d really appreciate any ideas and direction you can point me in. Thank you!

It would be nice if it even had features for making letters requesting interest knockdowns and such. Does such a personal financing for dummies software kit exist?

In order to negotiate with the insurance company, it would be useful to have a software package that would help itemize, price, calculate, and estimate, not only the value of contents but also the cost per square foot of restored construction, the labor cost of tearout of damaged property, debiris disposal costs, etc. Insurance companies have such software packages. It would be great if the insured could also use one.

I run 2 small businesses that are completely separate from each other. One is registered for VAT and the other is not. I’m looking for an accounting software package that will allow me to do the accounts for each business. If I have to download the same package twice, if its possible, then I can do that instead if doing the accounts for both businesses on the exact same system. I’m looking for an easy to use and cheap (even free) software package. I’m in Ireland. Thanks in advance to all replies.

I purchased a software package for my home business that was $59.00. It had a $59.00 rebate making it free after I received the rebate a few weeks later. Can I claim the $59 as a deduction?

To create newsletters, brochures, reports, etc. Something a lot more robust than MS Publisher. I’m willing to spend up to $800 for the right software package. Ideas? What package do most of the publishing houses use for layout?

I am a Boyscout, and i am working on the aviation merit badge. And one of the requirements are to use
A flight simulator software package for a computer. So if anyone knows a real good and easy to use and learn software no more than $50, that would really help.

A student here is wondering what kind of application software packages are used in the law, and the only thing I could think of was Microsoft Office. However, they need to list 5 packages!

Are there specialized suites built to suit lawyers? Thanks!

Having recently purchased a property which I intend renting out to student, I am seeking a software package to assist me.
I want it to help manage my tenants rental records/inventory/residents identity data and tax returns. I have seen demos of such on the web but would welcome some comments.

I plan to create and print a full-page ad or leaflet for delivery within my neighborhood. I am sure that one, if not some of these software packages in my WIN XP has this document-creation and editing feature.
Which one or combination of WIN XP Pro system packages can I use for this feature?
