    “National/local laws
It is extremely important to recognize that each business has a number of legal obligations. For example there is a number of insurances.
Some of these insurances are compulsory for businesses like for example motor insurance if you run a company vehicle, while other insurance are optional like building insurance or keyman insurance.

To run my business I will need the employer’s liability insurance which is required of all employers. It will generally protect me against the costs of compensating employee who is injured in the work place.

    Legal responsibilities
Careful attention needs to be paid to businesses’ staff and their rights. There are many laws affecting health and safety at work, paying and equal opportunities.

    Health and safety
Stringent rules are set out to ensure that businesses do all they can to protect their workers. The main legislation in Britain is the Health and safety at Work Act. This set out the minimum standards which employers must maintain the working environment and workplace. This include:
    • Businesses must provide all necessary safety equipment and clothing
    • Making sue that workers have regularly brakes to test
    • Employers must provide a safety working environment
    • All businesses must have a written safety policy on display
    • All businesses must keep temperatures comfortable

To prevent accidents in the work place and protect the work environment I must make sure that my own business meets all legal issues specially health and safety at work regulations and food hygiene legislation. I also need to provide adequate washroom and toilet facilities and create a hygienic and safety environment to work in.

    Contract of employment
Anyone employed in the business within two months of starting work must received a contract of employment that clearly sets out their conditions and service such as duties, hours of work, job title and description, holiday pay, sick pay agreement, the amount of pay and how often payments will be made etc. Each contract of employment must include the name of employer and employee and clearly shows all duties and responsibilities.

Thinking about my own business I must guarantee a contract of employment for each employee within two months should have a contract of employment that clearly sets out all conditions, duties and responsibilities. According to HM Revenue & Customs each employee within my business must be paid at least:
    – £5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
    – £4.77 per hour for workers aged 18-21
    – £3.53 per hour for all workers under the age of 18

Equal Pay Act 1970 – this Act states that I must treated equally both sexes. A woman employed in the same job as a man must have the same pay and conditions.

Disability Discrimination Act 1995 –this Act states that it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a disabled person by refusing to provide any services.

The Race Relations Act 1976 states that it is unlawful for an employer to treat or fail to prevent the treatment of workers less favourably because of their colour, race, nationality or ethnic or national origins.

As an owner of the business I must make sure I meet all of these requirements listed above. I should also remember that part-time workers must also be given same rights and contortions as full-time workers.
The meet The Disability Discrimination Act my business must offer toilets for disabled people, menu in “Brail language” for the benefit of the blind people and each service provided by my business must be equally available for disable people.”

I’m writing a paper on social security. My high school has not taught me much about social security over the years though. That being said, I’m asking this question as Social Security for Dummies. What is social security? And if you just copy and paste a definition, please explain in your own words too. Can things such as becoming unemployed or getting in an accident and needing medical attention, draw the money from your social security money?

I was a worker under a contract that was subject to the Service Contract Act of 1965. I believe I was underpaid and never received Health and Welfare benefits. What is the time limit for filing a claim with the Department of Labor.

    The happiest taxes on earth

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (MarketWatch) — Northern Europeans are the happiest people on the planet, according to a new survey.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development says people in Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands are the most content with their lives. The three ranked first, second and third, respectively, in the OECD’s rankings of “life satisfaction,” or happiness.

There are myriad reasons, of course, for happiness: health, welfare, prosperity, leisure time, strong family, social connections and so on. But there is another common denominator among this group of happy people: taxes.

Northern Europeans pay some of the highest taxes in the world. Danes pay about two-thirds of their income in taxes. Why be so happy about that? It all comes down to what you get in return.

It says social welfare programs include health insurance, health and hospital services, insurance for occupational injuries, unemployment insurance and employment exchange services. There’s also old age and disability pensions, rehabilitation and nursing homes, family welfare subsidies, general public welfare and payments for military accidents. Moreover, maternity benefits are payable up to 52 weeks.

Simply, you pay for what you get. Taxes in the U.S. have taken on a pejorative association because, well, we are never really quite sure of what we get in return for paying them, other than the world’s biggest military.

But I thought Republican talking point #203 said that people living in “Socialist” countries were miserable and envied our lives here in the U.S?
Maybe because in those Nordic countries they value life more then money.
What evidence do you people have that their form of government cannot work here?? You have no evidence because it was never tried in the first place and you cannot give an example of a country where it didn’t work.

What’s the starting place for filing for disability?
51 yr old male, injured in auto accident almost 2 yrs ago, I’ve had scoliosis since birth and fell from 7 feet and injured back about 14 yrs ago…all of this documented.
Currently unemployable and been unemployed for about 2 yrs due to car accident.

Awaiting a Insurance settlement now for the auto accident…can I use my current Attorney or should I seek a Specialist in that field?
My current Attorney says if I were to file for Disability before settlement it would be a huge Game Changer as far the settlement amount!

I’m writing a short fictional story and the main character is a girl in foster care. She gets hurt in a horseback riding accident that causes a brain injury while under the care of foster parents. So what happens to a child in foster care that gets in an accident? I’d like to make the story as realistic as possible.

He was in a tractor accident as a teen and crushed his hips, requiring large titanium screws to put his hips back in place. He was also wheelchair bound for several months. As an adult, he has always held a job in either pipelining or another form of laborer job. However, with age has come worsening joint pains as well as hindered movement in his hips. Because the accident didnt happen on a job site, what type of benefits is he eligible for? Permanent partial? We don’t really know much about it, other than we know we need help. Thanks.

I was notdriving I was in the passenger seat. My stupid cousin was drivin too fast and she hit gravel then the car spun out. Then rolled over a bunch of times then finally hit a cement embankment. Now everyone kept on sayin that I couldn’t go and sew my uncle he’s family it wouldn’t be right. So durin all that i acquired over $500,000 in medical bills and instead of my uncle doing the right thing and just forking some money over he went out and bought a $50.000 car. Never once gave up anything nor offered anything. Not even an apology for his stupid daughters mistake. so when I get out the hospital everyone is still in my ear about not sewing so the insurance company sent me a settlement and me not even being anywhere in the right mind and getting all this input from everyone else accept an lawyer signed it. I have 10 pins and 2 steal rods in my back I cant walk. My life is changed forever. even though i signed the settlement is there anything I can do to get these bills taken care of
