Medical Health Insurance just subsidizes the costly price of healthcare, like how house insurance subsidizes the costly price of a home.

If healthcare was common it might be inexpensive, whether it was inexpensive there would not be an excuse for insurance, it might be common like clothes, food, along with other essentials of existence.

The answer may be the shortage of doctors, if doctors were as fashionable as A/C repairmen the labor could be cheaper, it may be cheap to some degree where insurance would not be needed. I suggest we remove government rules on Doctors and allow the patients decide who to visit for treatment, unless of course you assume individuals are stupid and want their hands held to come to a decision.

All options we make ought to be our very own choice, we should not be mandating and heavily controlling the health care industry. Less limitations shall give more chance for growth. Quite simply blame the AMA.

    Good Sense

Rev-Them-up-Ray-Gun: You are wrong, both insurance providers do earn profits, however, you subscribe to them for any compensation so you do not get condemned having a heavy financial wall. You are clearly juvenile and petty to know how insurance works. Obviously they earn profits simply because they calculate risk sensibly. The price is the problem, not the main one shielding the price.

Like they had no parenting classes so how did they know how to bring up their young. Because we are all told we need to go to them in order to do so now. Like without them the kids would all just die or something.

They had no Mcdonalds so like people actually had to get of their backsides and get food no way that’s prosperous.

They had no health insurance, Health and saftey, Mortgage, technology or transportation how ever did they live because we all are told that without these things we can not live and will possibly die.

HOW EVER DID THEY DO IT?
Some people don’t get sarcasm. I’m just saying we don’t NEED all of the things we are told we do in order to live our life. We over complicate things and our ancestors survived just fine without them.

I have this assignment in my ethics class and want to hear everyone else’s thoughts and what you base your decision on. Obviously there is no right answer, but there are factors that we should consider to make the decision, and factors we shouldn’t.

Hypothetical situation: In summary, there are 6 people with bird flu who are suffering respiratory complications, they are waiting in the ER to be triaged but there are only 2 ventilators left. In what order do you rank them to get treated and why?

Mr. Peter Abbot: 45 year old married man with 2 children in college, college educated, and a local Baptist minister. No other health problems are noted and he abstains from drinking or smoking.
Mr. Robert Forman, 70-year-old widower, with adult children, former CEO of a local tobacco company, has made many generous donations to UofL Hospital in the past. He is a “single-malt scotch” drinker and “fine cigar” smoker.
Mr. Johnny Jones: 40 year old married man with 6 children, was a jockey, high school educated, smokes Marlboros and drinks beer on “social occasions”.
Mrs. Mary Moore, 34-year-old mother of 4 children below age of 10, college educated, unemployed outside of the home. She is about thirty lbs. overweight.
Ms. Jean Stevens, 25 year old single woman with no children, whose illness began while on a rotation in medical school. She has battled with anorexia for 10 years, but is in control of it now.
Mr. Jorge Ramirez, 31-year-old undocumented immigrant, who is a migrant farm laborer and sole support for an extended family, some in the States and some in Mexico.

*all patients have health insurance but Ramirez, who says he will try to “pay out of pocket”
Only two people can be treated*

I shopped for health insurance this way. I get so tired of putting the same info in over and over with each insurance company, it is so time consuming.

What was your worst job and how well did it pay?

    Best job?

Wall Street is about to pay 72 $BILLION$ in bonuses again. WOW!

The Amish are very independent and like to be left alone. If they are self-employed in farming, they probably don’t have big incomes. They are frugal people who live within their means.

But required health insurance will surely be a budget buster. And I can’t imagine them going down to the local welfare office to ask for a subsidy. I can’t imagine their being too happy to have to reveal their income and assets to the “English” in their communities, or perhaps having to pledge the family farm to repay the subsidy when they die, ending the farming tradition for their families.
