I’m in CA, and i’m carrying out a school project. the company is just 3 people including myself and also the auto would simply be one 2001 work van. its a dog sitting business so you will find hardly any assets( under 20,000). A good guess could be appreciated. thanks

im 21 years of age and considering purchasing a 2007 mustang since i have have in the bank enough money for just one. I’ve 3 speeding tickets within my record driving history. I’m able to only afford up to $4000-$4500 annually in insurance. Can One not afford this vehicle? Gas and winter driving aren’t trouble for me.

Irrrve never had insurance before and am getting insurance in one company for any month after which switching. Does that appear to be bad on some type of record (meaning it’ll affect my rates later on?)?

Isn’t denying car insurance AFTER a car accident denying it for a “pre-existing condition”?

If this health care bill passes, I don’t know why anyone would car insurance on an undamaged car or house insurance on a house that isn’t on fire. Save your money until the event happens and then fight them on the legality of coverage denial for pre-existing conditions.

This is the lunacy that Obama wants to bring to America.

I have a replacement steering wheel and want to continue driving the car, but will only buy it from the insurance co if i can drive it under the existing inspection. (It wont pass again)

Just doing some research. Do you get one quote, or do you go back and get multiple before you make your decision?
How many times to you get an auto quote before you buy a policy?

okay, i am 16 years old and just got my liscense a couple of days ago.
my parents are now paying an extra $800 to add me to the insurance but they want to buy me a really cheap car to drive for about 2 years so i dont crash the other expensive cars we have

say i got a ’93 honda civic for around $2,000 with around say 100k miles on it, how much do you think it would cost to add that to the policy?
i mean, the more cars you add the more expensive it is. so how much would it be to add another car.

My husband and I can no longer afford to stay with our current insurance agent. My 17 year old son is driving now and my auto policy tripled. We also insure our home through this company. In order to shop around and compare like to like, I need a recent copy of my home insurance (I have my auto). I really hate the idea of dealing with my agent again. Can I access it any other way?

I have Geico insurance for the past 8 years. I have not made one claim in that 8 year time frame. I was driving down the highway last week when something struck my windshield and spider cracked it pretty good. Should I pay it out of my pocket or call the insurance. Will my rates go up for making a windshield claim?

  18. Lemuel March 22, 2013 at 4:58 am #

I’m thinking about moving out of my house cause it sucks. I’d have to buy my own car and I’m thinking an older civic, cause they’re reliable. Anyone got any ideas on what a good but cheap way to insure would be?
I’m looking for the most basic of basic coverage. I’m not gonna wreck or do any dumb stuff like drink and drive or sped or anything like that.

  19. Vincent March 22, 2013 at 4:59 am #

Just when I think I’ve got a fair quote, I realize there’s a line item missing. I’m looking for a template that lists all the options in all categories (comprehensive, liabilty, collision etc) so I can just fill in the numbers and compare.

  20. Princess March 22, 2013 at 10:14 am #

I called Geico this morning and received a quote $445.00 per year cheaper than i’m paying now on two cars. They only have a six months policy though, and I’m afraid they will jack up the prices after the six months. I was wondering if anyone has Geico and what experiences you’ve had with them, Good or Bad.

I have just bought a new car in a Toyota car dealer: They have found for me an insurance for the car, comparing with different insurance companies. But now at home, I am trying a quote with Geico, and it seems that I could probably get a better price with this company (not completely sure, I need to call them).
Is it possible to cancel my signature as I did not receive the policy yet ? and I did not get my car yet (but tomorrow) ?
I don’t know if here in USA we have the possibility during some days (one week for example) to retract ourself….
    Thanks for information.
but is it possible not to start to pay a new car insurance and to change for another one….
I have paid totally my car by cash, and I will take it probably tomorrow. I have signed all the documents for the car insurance today…. but I am hesitation to contact Geico company since they seem to do better price for me….. I don’t know if is possible to change right now….. and to cancel the first insurance (already paid for one full year).

My parents handle my car insurance (Hartford). Go to college in Miami. Parents also live in Miami. Got my 1st speeding ticket (38 mph in a 30 mph zone), took the class, had the citation adjudicated/cleared.
Would rather not have my parents find out. A) Will the insurance show my driving record or citation history to my parents? B) Does Florida law allow ANY charges to insurance after points have been cleared?

  35. Christen March 24, 2013 at 7:28 pm #

I have recently obtained my learner’s driver license in Quebec. Do we need to register my name with my parents’ car in order for me to drive?

And if yes, does it significantly increase the premium (ie: I am still a minor and never driven before)

  36. Dian March 24, 2013 at 10:03 pm #

Insurance companies participating in the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program are allowed to raise premiums significantly even when federal retirees (disability retirees included) even when retirees do not get a raise. Why not enact legislation that prevents this? Our premiums have increased more than $100 per month. Can you tell me why?

I got an Esurance quote, comparable auto insurance coverage and they are $400 cheaper than Geico!

I’m beginning to think Geico’s advertising budget makes them uncompetitive. Between radio and TV, can easily hear 6-7 Geico commercials any given day.

Advertising can’t be cheap and I think it’s reflected in Geico’s higher cost to insure?
    Any thoughts?

I am comparing prices for car insurance. I have had State Farm forever. After talking to them and asking them what I should look for when shopping for car insurance is a policy that wont cancel you or raise rates if you have an accident. We have made claims in the past (storm damage and I hit a tree stump – no actual vehicle to vehicle accidents) and our rates have not gone up. Do other companies do the same? What about Traveler’s Auto Insurance?

I just [attempted to] informed myself on the the care reform. But it made me wonder if making these insurance companies make their plans more affordable will send them down the drain.
I only wonder this because of all the banks that died off earlier on. Idk why they went under either if you’d care to explain that as well.

In the Obama Health care law ( now upheld) it has something that says the insurance companies must refund some of the profit money that used for advertising and administrative costs to buyers of insurance this year because it was over what is allowed by the government.

How will that money be sent if you pay part of your premium and employer pays part? Will employer be allowed to keep all of it?

  63. Kurt March 31, 2013 at 9:39 am #

My friend said that all the insurance companies would just move to South Dakota, because that is the state with the weakest consumer protection laws, and then they could sell insurance nationwide and ignore the laws of the other 49 states.

    How true is that?

  64. Len March 31, 2013 at 10:08 am #

I bought a ’79 El Camino in Oregon this past summer. They don’t have any smog laws there, but in California they do. It hasn’t passed a smog test because it needs a catalytic converter, and I can’t afford that now. The tags don’t expire until March, the car is registered to me, and I have insurance. And it still has the Oregon plates.

  67. Jamila April 1, 2013 at 3:20 am #

The problem is that, without the mandate, insurance companies won’t cover people with pre-existing conditions. Otherwise, people will just wait until they get sick to buy insurance.

So you have to create a system where everyone is insured — a mandate.

OK, if you don’t like the mandate, how would you get insurance companies to provide affordable insurance to people with pre-existing conditions without a requirement for everyone to have insurance

Your solution has to cover the situation where a person gets laid off, wants to start their own business, and needs to buy affordable individual coverage (not group coverage) for themselves and their family.

    You have 30 minutes. Begin….now.
“Affordable” Median income in the US is about $45,000.
Lenny — thoughtful answer. I see challenges in drawing the line around the condition and other conditions, but it’s a start.
Primo — you’re not answering the question I asked. I’m not debating the constitutionality (although 2 of the 3 rulings favor the mandate), I’m asking for an alternative that will address the issue of coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Jay — I don’t see how this will work. No insurance company is going to accept paying $100,000 in hospital bills in exchange for $10,000 in back premiums.
    “gws35” — HIPAA Title I doesn’t address my scenario.

Some argue that allowing health insurance companies to compete all over the country would reduce costs. Most conservatives seem to favor this while most liberals do not. What are the arguments for and against doing this. Who has a vested interest in the geographical restrictions.

I have geico and right now im on my dads policy im 20 years old. i have had 2 tickets 2 points each i believe and it hasn’t been picked up on yet….but i just recently got another one for two points…right now its $75 dollars a month not full coverage…what do you think it will be when its picked up on?

Someone had told me about a class i could take to drop a few of the points…I’m going to try that.

  72. Tena April 1, 2013 at 7:19 pm #

You are “insuring” against treatment for expensive conditions. Rates are determined by your history of health.

Insurance companies are not just banks that pay for everything. They play the odds which allows healthier people to pay smaller amounts than unhealthier people do.

If insurance companies have to pay for everything, regardless of the person, they will go out of business immediately.

Why don’t people understand this very simple concept?

It’s almost as if the government was going to require that every slot machine at a casino would produce a winning hand. Sure, it would be fun at the casino for a few hours, but by midnight it would be bankrupt and closed forever.

  73. Reyna April 2, 2013 at 2:48 am #

Health insurance companies fight health care providers daily to lower the costs.

Why would insurance companies want to have to pay higher costs?

Have you ever seen a hospital bill and what a health insurance company disallows and finally ends up paying? It’s a he’ll of a lot less than what the provider is trying to charge.
Whoo, saying health insurance companies are 100% to blame for the high cost of health care proves you have no idea what you are talking about.

The following is a statement just made here on YA. Can anyone make any sense out of this comment? The insurance companies simply pass on costs to consumers.

“Everyone will have access to affordable health care insurance regardless of any preexisting condition. This will take the burden of the uninsured off the tax payer and place it on the insurance companies who have been raping the people for years.”

Where do people learn to think like this?

I’m hearing more and more about positions with Insurance companies, where the base company is several states away but they hire someone to do local audits for their company, for example, someone living in South Carolina doing work for the company based out of Ohio. My question is, does anyone know where to find these positions? I’ve tried the basic jobsearch websites but they don’t typically seem to have positions like that listed.

With all the attention on the U.S. Health Care System (or lack thereof), there’s something I can’t quite wrap my head around. If the greedy insurance companies sole aim is to deny coverage to folks and/or once covered, deny claims on a regular basis, how do doctors make their money? And hospitals?

  77. Rodney April 2, 2013 at 11:53 pm #

Do they have the right to look into what other insurance companies you’ve been with and what you had done on those companies? Also does a doctor/specialist (orthopedic, family doctor, other specialists, etc) know how long you will been on insurance, or have the right to know. Can they look into your past medical bills?

  78. Maryalice April 3, 2013 at 4:57 am #

Okay, so I didn’t know how to word this question, but pretty much this is it: You know how apartments don’t allow German Shepherd Dogs, well come to find out it’s because the insurance companies of that particular apartment community think them to be a liability and they don’t do well in community life…So I think that should be put on each individual dog, not as a group…So my question is, who do I contact with my review on how this is true? And what can I do if anything at all?

Are insurance companies paying the democrats to keep this exemption in place?

I would appreciate if anyone at all could lead me to articles, sites, etc. that would provide information on the following question: How are insurance companies and the Pentagon reacting to the impact of global warming?
If a source is not available, then a good explanation will also be much appreciated.

Does anyone know how much profit did insurance companies make in 2007 and 2008? Or from where I can get this info.

I need these stats for a project I am working on and would like to thank you in advance.

The current administration has frozen our monthly SS payments for the next 2 years, but allows the insurance companies to raise their rates during the same time frame. Can anyone do the math? This is totally insane! I’ll listen to reasonable explanations.

I am a buyer interested in getting access to claims merchandise that have been returned to insurance companies that are to be sold off, are surplus, damaged, refurbished etc. Does anyone know how to go about getting on auction lists, bid lists, or how to be alerted of claims of merchandise being sold. Any advice on how the insurance claim adjusters handle these returns would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!

If the government is telling insurance companies that they have to giving insurance to children with a preexisting conditions; isn’t this simply telling insurance companies to pay for all children with a sickness? How is that legal?

What reputable health insurance companies are out there
My mom doesn’t have health insurance and my job doesn’t give insurance to family members.

I would like to pay monthly to a health insurance company so my mom could get health check up when she needs it.

Do you know any health insurance companies that can accept low monthly payments since I don’t get paid that much?

My friend who is an MBA said that if this were implemented, all the insurance companies would just move to South Dakota, because they have the weakest laws, and then they would be able to sell insurance to everyone and ignore all the other states’ laws. Is that true?

  91. Ethelyn April 5, 2013 at 10:41 am #

Just wondering,, I work in an insurance company and I have been assigned to develop the method of receiving payments from Clients, agents collect the amounts of premiums from clients and then they deliver them to our accountants to enter the Official Receipts in the system and then close the transaction. Our concern is that we need to develop the Receipts system and systemize the process, instead of hand-writing the Receipts we want to enter the receipt through a device.

My question is how other insurance companies collect & proof the payments made by clients ?
FYI, we use Oracle ERP system.

No accident for 5 years, no tickets for 3 years, excellent credit.

So, what quality auto insurance companies only look back 5 years for accidents, 3 for tickets and weigh in good credit?
My rate w/ State Farm just increased $15 and that’s BS.

  95. Tory April 6, 2013 at 3:38 pm #

What is the point of insurance companies requesting the value of your vehicle to be insured, when at the end of the day it counts as nothing if one should have an accident. Its just a worthless figure on the insurance document. Could anyone explain.??

My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years. We are interested in going to couples counseling in order to work on any issues we have before moving forward. We both have health insurance but with two separate insurance companies. Do therapists typically bill both insurances (meaning we need to find someone that accepts both)? Is the therapy billed differently because its more than one person being serviced, meaning that couples therapy has to be specifically covered by our insurance companies? Any information would be great, thanks!

I am interested in starting some type of insurance company for pre-paid legal representation. There are plenty of pre-paid legal services / insurance companies that assist in giving Leal advice but none that actually provide legal representation in court proceedings. A lot of these prepaid legal services / insurance companies that assist in giving Leal advice give a discount on legal representation but is not an actual plan for that reason. How can I start a company or a program that provides this? I want it to work like a health insurance plan instead of having network of doctors there would be a network of lawyers that are broken down into categories, such as family lawyers, divorce lawyers, criminal, person injury lawyers, ect. I would create plans that insurer’s could choose from based on there on personal legal needs and wants. How could I do this? I am in Virginia.

I recently got my claim denied from the insurance company that covers the man who hit my vehicle. I filed a claim today with my insurance company and they determined that the man was, indeed, at fault. My claim adjuster said that the next step was for the insurance companies to battle it out. I was just wondering what happens when 2 insurance companies battle it out and what happens afterwards.

I want an insurance company that won’t invade our last bit of privacy – our DNA. Once they have your DNA they can make all kinds of determinations about you, health, personality, all kinds of things. Years ago reasearchers were willing to pay $5,000. US Dollars to get you to donate your very private – unique only to you dna to them. Now insurance companies get us to pay them to take it from us! Is anyone aware of a company to buy term life ins. without DNA sample?

After the disaster in Japan, I read somewhere that the insurance companies have to pay somewhere between 14 to 33 billion dollars to Japanese citizens.

I’m sure they’ll cough up the money, but I’m curious, what happens when an insurance company has not enough money to pay? Are there some rules and regulations in place so that the companies can’t insure more than they can afford to pay?

  103. Tena April 7, 2013 at 9:32 pm #

The high costs originate with the health care providers.

Insurance companies actually fight with providers to keep costs down as much as possible. Why would the insurance companies want health care costs to be more expensive?

Do Liberals know the difference between health care providers and health insurance companies? If so why do you never hear them complain about what providers are charging in the first place?

If a person filed a claim for theft, burglary, or anything of the sort, how do the insurance companies know if they’re lying or not? Even if people provide receipts or pictures, do they go through a process to make sure that the item was purchased by that person? You also have the right to black out any personal information, that way your credit card information will be secure. So what do insurance companies have to work with? If someone’s crafty enough, they can forge receipts, take fake pictures, or find some way to obtain owner’s manuals to provide fake proof.

  106. Hobert April 9, 2013 at 5:42 am #

Do you know Insurance companies tell you what doctors you can see and tell you what procedures the doctor can perform and can deny you coverage for any reason. Insurance companies are not in the Business of providing heath care they are in the Business of making profit for their CEO and stock holders. Why don’t you want a universal health care, it makes no sense.

I always hear about how these two groups hate each other, and my own lawyer talks like he hates insurance companies more than anything in the world. But I can’t help thinking, what’s the real relationship? Are these two groups genuinely opposed to one another, or is it just some mutually-profitable arrangement? Is all the animosity a sham? Anyone who works for a big insurance company or who is or works for a personal injury lawyer, I’d love to read your answers!

  108. Cory April 9, 2013 at 11:39 am #

I understand that insurance companies use credit scores for this purpose, but I have been unable to get them to tell me which credit scores result in a specific numeric rating. Since the price of my insurance policy is tied to this information, I believe this information should be made available to consumers.

  109. Ethelyn April 9, 2013 at 12:35 pm #

Insurance companies don’t want to insure people WHO ACTUALLY USE THEIR SERVICE because IT COSTS THEM MONEY. Their ideal customer would be someone who NEVER GETS SICK. Thats why they drop people with long or expensive treatments.

If you don’t trust the Government, then why do you drive on the roads it makes or the wars it fights or
the drivers license it gives you? OR pay your taxes?

Looking to become a mental helth practicioner, but I want to get a license (degree) which would allow for insurance companies to cover the patients I’d be seeing.
I don’t want my future clients to pay out of pocket.
Which degrees or licenses are insurance companies willing to cover? I know they cover Phd’s and LCSW’s, which other type of practicioners do they cover?

Its exactly like what Govt has been doing to the banks- Regulations galore has put hundreds of them out of business.

How is it legal for health insurance companies to discriminate against people with disabilities (I mean, medical disabilities), but other companies are not allowed to, like grocery stores are not allowed to? Or maybe it IS legal for other businesses to discriminate against people I am really just curious, that’s all. About the legal process. Health insurance companies kind of make me mad, because of this issue. I know I am expressing a political opinion, but I ask you not to troll. If you have a different opinnion thatn me, you can argue for it, but please don’t start trollin.’

My 2000 camaro was hit the other night. They think it might be a total lose because of the frame being bent. I wanted to know if insurance companies used the Kelly blue book value or the NADA Value for the check they give you. If any knows how much he could get that would help to.

Obviously anyone that has had auto insurance and has had a claim knows this can be quite difficult. In fact, the running joke in insurance companies is the only time you don’t have insurance is during claims time. What should be done in Congress to force these insurance companies (which have thousands of complaints of wronging clients) to actually pay the claims?

I have a product that would tailor to the commercial side of insurance. More specifically companies with fleet vehicles. I want to talk to insurance companies to see if their customers equip their fleets with my product that they would the offer them a discount. That would help me get sales, help the insurance company have their customers carrying a safety device, and save the fleet owners money. Who in an insurance agency would I talk to for instance Liberty Mutual?

A few weeks ago I was driving and yielded at a yield sign, and somebody rear ended me. My car sustained only superficial damage, and I am not filing a claim. The person who hit me, however, had substantial damage to their car, and they filed a claim with their own insurance. Their insurance office is now calling me to get a statement regarding the accident. I am wary to talk to them, because I have heard stories of insurance companies deciding the accident was not 100% the fault of their client, and I do not want to be blamed for any part of this. Do I have any obligation to talk to their insurance company? The police were not called to the accident, and it took place in Oklahoma.

What do insurance companies do if they decide to replace furniture i.e. Persian rugs rather than repair them (or if they deem them irreparable or not worth repairing)?

Do they just bin them or do they auction them or give them back to the claimant?

Is there a way to contact the companies to see about buying items off them – I work for a Persian rug company and many of the rugs claimed on could be restored to a decent level – seems like an awful waste for them to be just thrown away.
