A claim supplement is a claim for additional repair or replacement costs. Supplements are commonplace in the claims method. Even so, if you are a policyholder unaware of your policy rights, you could be walking away from hundreds or thousands of dollars that you are entitled to collect.

Claim supplements generally happen right after a policyholder submits a claim, gets paid and gets the repairs or replacements completed. Then, extra damage is found some time later.

Several men and women erroneously think that, when the claim is closed, it cannot be re-opened. And, insurance organizations and their adjusters normally never rush to inform you how to submit a claim supplement. So, what to do? Let’s look at automobile insurance claims and house insurance claims.

For any kind of supplemental claim, you need to get in touch with your insurance firm and give them your original claim number. The best way to notify the company is in writing, sent Licensed Mail. That way, you will know who signed for the letter. The insurer will have to re-open the claim. You may get the same adjuster as prior to, but possibly not.

Auto Insurance Supplemental Claims

Lots of supplements occur when vehicles are receiving repaired. Many occasions, hidden damages are found when the body shop begins dismantling the car. So, although the insurance organization may have issued payment to the body shop from the original repair estimate, they will concern a second examine for the supplemental repairs. Happens all the time, no large deal.

However, sometimes post-repair difficulties do not show up proper away. A good example is the Air Conditioning technique. If you have a auto wreck in July, you may well not notice that your heater is malfunctioning till fall or winter. But when any damages are found that can be straight related to the original insured loss, you can submit a supplement. Just document the damages and their result in and send the supplement to the insurance organization. No additional deductible is assessed, considering that you currently paid it when.

House Insurance Supplemental Claims

Homeowners, Renters or Business insurance claims can find a want for a supplemental claim for some of the identical causes discovered in auto insurance claims. Seasonal concerns can bring up damages connected to the original loss. But, some other troubles may well present themselves. You may have an expert’s report that shows additional damage attributable to the original loss. Your contractor may possibly have discovered hidden damage that must be repaired. In any occasion, cautiously document your claim and submit it to the insurance organization.

Be certain that you are collecting all the funds you are entitled to collect. Use supplemental claims whenever your claim demands it.

If you have seasoned a house loss, whether fire, wind, flood or other, you need to know winning insurance claim techniques. The insurance company will not tell you the claims procedure, but I will. I will show you how to take manage of your insurance claim, and add hundreds or even thousands more dollars to your claim settlement. I was involved in an accident. I was struck and the police report states that I struck the other vehicle. I have a witness and photos of my totaled vehicle that clearly shows the abundance of damage was to the rear of my vehicle where the other vehicle hit me. I am being taken to Small Claims court and the other driver is taking advantage of the fact that the crash report is incorrect. I have been told the Trooper needs to correct the report but he will not return my calls. Any suggestions?
There were no tickets issued at the accident. And I get the feeling that the actual crash report was written much after the date of the accident. The details on the report are very far from what happend. The diagram show the front of my vehicle striking the other driver when what actually happend is the front of his vehicle struck the rear corner of my vehicle and spun us to the front corner of my vehicle hit the trailer of his vehicle. The paint from his blue trailer is on the front of my vehicle to prove it. I know Troopers seen many accidents in a day and I don’t expect him to remember this one specifically but I do expect a call back! His error could end up costing me a lot of money!

Hi, like my question says was in an accident mid October. The other driver was at fault. Early November I settled with the health claims representative for the insurance company for loss wages of work. They sent me a check for $600.

On top of that after three weeks the insurance company stopped paying for the rental car. I was notified by the rental agency two weeks later that it was not being paid for. I contacted the insurance company they extended it for a week. The insurance company says they have no reason to extend it. So the body shop gave me a loner. The car will take four months to fix. The car repair total was estimated at $8,000. The body shop now expects it to total $13,000 the cars retail value is $15,000.

Now I received two bills in the mail today. One for $1600 for the hospital visit and $100 for the car rental. What should I do now?

    Appreciate the feedback.

I’m a life insurance agent and have an applicant who has an elevated PSA level of 8. He has had 3 biopsies in the last 3 yrs, all indicating no cancer, yet he was declined due to the elevation. When I spoke with an underwriter at one of the insurance companies I’m affiliated with, I was told to have the applicant go on “the medication that lowers PSA levels”, get a declaration of good health from his urologist, resubmit his application in 3 months when his PSA level has returned to a normal range (around 4), and then have the applicant stop taking the medication if he so desired. When I spoke with the applicant he informed me that there is no medication that lowers PSA levels or his urologist would have recommended it to him by now because he’s had an elevated PSA for 10 yrs, yet had no cancer. My questions are…

1.) Is there a prescribed medication proven to lower PSA levels?**

2.) Is the recommendation made by the underwriter ethical or even informed?

3.) Would any urologist in his right mind submit a declaration of good health when prostrate cancer is involved considering the inconsistencies between an elevated PSA and prostate cancer. By inconsistencies I mean many men have elevated PSA’s but never get cancer and many men have PSA’s in the “normal” range and do develop it.

**Please do not take this opportunity to post your “all natural supplement” website w/100’s of quotes about how well it worked for other people. I’m looking for an actual prescription medication that doctors prescribe to lower a man’s PSA level.

Opinions on the underwriter’s recommendation are welcome.

My boyfriend is a UK citizen (Scotland specifically). I am a US citizen. I met him online through a chat website in 2005. We got along well, so we decided to meet up in 2007. Since then, he and I have traveled back and forth to one another (him coming to me sometimes, me going to him other times). Every time we leave each other, it is heartbreaking. We’d like to find a way to stay with each other, but it seems impossible as we’re citizens of different countries, and it seems there are so many laws keeping us apart. We want to get married and be able to stay together, and for me to move to the UK to be with him.

Can someone please help me understand the laws regarding this?
Also those of you who know the laws, would it be easier for me to go to the UK, or for him to move to the US (after we marry, of course)? We truly don’t care where we live, we just want to put an end to the distance.

So Now I have seen my new GP 2x.
Dr. M is a compassionate Dr. making time for me to ask as many ?’s as I need to.
BUT… i just would like to hear from ANYONE out there if they have been RECENTLY diagnosed w/ DDD
    or advanced RA…

I started out on 2x 75 mg Voltaren (Nsaid drug)
    and 2x 100 mg Gabapentin…
That merely took the edge off of the pain in my back and right leg.

Today he upped the dosage on the Gabapentin to 8x 100 mg.
I realize that’s NOT a high dosage for these meds.
BUT i am concerned that’s quite a bit to be upped by…

I have a follow up in two weeks and again two weeks after that appt.
I am also being fitted for a Soft Lumbar Corset in mid~January.
I am taking Calcium supplements as I am Lactose Intolerant.

Hopefully in the next 2 weeks, I’ll adjust to the med increase and have more flexibility
and not be so stiff all of the time…

I am hoping to get the referral to the pain mgmt clinic here soon.
but apparently i need to be monitored the 1st 90 days as I am a new patient of his.

Now because this is a life~long condition that can be managed but not cured,
where does that leave me insurance wise or in regards to sickness / disability benefits?!?
    (btw I am CANADIAN)

From here on out it is considered to be a pre~existing condition.
So what am i obligated to tell a potential employer?!?
I lost my job last year, my EI benefits ran out and i have been on
Employment and Income Assistance benefits for months now.
To cover all of my medical expenses (more than a few hundred $$$ / month)

So while i am NOT employable at the moment,
i will be Limited asto what i can and cannot do in the future.
Based in part on how high a dosage of meds i’ll be on
and what my physical limitations will be at that time.

I understand his policy to monitor a patient for the first 90 days,
before even considering signing off on a potential disability claim.
But my case worker is pushing for me to apply for it,
since it will mean that i will have better medical coverage and a higher benefit rate.
And instead of having to do paperwork each and every month/other month…
I’d only have to submit 2/3x yr.

Anyone out there who has been through this or knows someone who has ?!?
    Debbie…
I don’t suppose you’d happen to know where i can find the updated requirements ?!?
I was pre~qualified for CPP benefits because i’ve been on med leave for more than a year. (but CPP does NOT cover month to month medical /Rx costs) Which is why I never applied for it.
My disablility ins thru my bank denied me as it one of those non~covered conditions (generally associted w/ natural wear and tear/aging) Which i find a lil amusing considering i just turned 36.
EIA will provide another 6 mths of benefits without needing further evaluations. As I am under strict monitoring for the meds I am on.
It’s just taht i do not want to find myself w/out a back up plan so to speak.
If I take my CPP benefits I’d be severely impacting my potential retirement benefits down the line (assuming CPP exists in 30 yrs time)
I’m a single parent and i am JUST making ends meet. I’d rather not find myself in a situation where the kids and I lose everyhting I’ve busted my a$$ for all these years.

My spouse has an FSA through his employer which is administered by the employer provided health insurance company. We have the required high deductible plan. We funded our FSA for $3,000 in 2009. We had physical exams costing $1500 each. We submitted our properly coded claims to our FSA and were told that we had to have an EOB from our health insurance first. So, we did this. Then submitted the EOB to our FSA. They are only reimbursing us for what the insurance company says is “allowed charges”. So, we have been reimbursed only $600 each – even though we were required to pay our doctor the $3,000 for the most extensive physicals we have ever had . I have scoured our receipts and claimed some of the remaining money. However, there is about $900 which we are going to lose.

Is it really true that our employer provided health insurance can dictate how we spend our FSA money? I thought it was IRS guidelines. We are being told by the health insurance claims people that my spouse’s employer has set up these rules.

Also, I find it really sad that we cannot be reimbursed for the supplements which our cardiologist and internists have both said were helpful in keeping us healthy and not needing anything more than a physical once a year.

    Thank you.

Should I hire an attorney for this?, I purchased a policy online a few months ago within the first few days that i had this insurance I had a storm and damaged my vehicle (minor) with hail damaged I submitted out a claim, appraiser was sent they covered the loss sent a check to me, now i take it to the bodyshop and try to have it fixed but they need a supplement, they contact insurance co. but insurance co, makes many excuses over this they state I dont have full coverage which I do, and it was verfied with them that i do, the next few weeks pass and then I finally get a call from a manager at the insurance company stating that they mistakenly sent me out a check because I made a false claim report, they said that they can tell by my pictures before policy was bought that vehicle had damaged (which is an excuse of denying supplement) and stated the the adjuster overlooked everything point here is that insurance co, cancelled my policy by stating underwriting issues, so now Im without insurance coverage, the manager also stated she reported this to the texas state but mentioned she could not put a stop payment on the check and that I could still use it to fix the car or cashout the check… I am really dissapointed at how all this was handelled, Im thinking about getting an attorney, I already discussed and this issue with the Insurance company and Im basicly told that I lied about the claim and they end my call… Should I wait to get an attorney or should I just get one and go from there? I believe this is bad faith insurance coverage, What should I do? I mean I still have the check it is not cashed out, I cant really do much with this check everyone charges an arm and a leg, can they file insurance fraud charges and if so even though I know I did everything right should I get an attorney?
I havent received a letter of the insurance company intent to take me to court, they sent a letter closing my policy for reason: Underwriting Reasons and advised me they reported this to the Texas State. I still also have the check they sent to me because its not about the money, I wanted them to fairly pay for the damages for my car, I was told by their manager to cashout the check or pay for the damages only with that check, as you read above I cannot pay anyone this check because everyone charges alot more than what I received.

I would like to see a psychiatrist to treat my depression but I don’t have health insurance. (I applied for private health insurance but was denied based on my medical history.) Is there a way to look up doctors who work on a sliding scale? I might need medication as well. I definitely won’t qualify for medicare but I’m not sure I can afford to pay full price for medication. Any ideas?

I was in a car accident. The other car was at fault, she has state farm. They asked would I like to go to a prefer repair center or go to a repair center of my choice. I decided to go with a repair center of my choice and a claim adjuster would come look at me car. Do the claim adjust write the check out to you or the repair center.

We recently had bad hail damage. The adjuster said the roof needed replaced. He said b/c it was 7 years old, it would be prorated for age, in other words, we would get 2 checks. The first check we only get a percentage of its total replacement value (I think we get 70% of the replacement value) because of its age. But if we got the roof replaced, and we send documentation of it then they would send the replacement value back to us in a 2nd check, eventually equaling 100% of the value.

Okay so here I have a couple questions. I’m scared the amount they get to decide to send us isn’t gonna be enough 🙁 How do I pay for the roof if they aren’t fully reimbursing me until the job is done?

Secondly, if we get lucky and manage to find a roofer that will discount it and do the job for the cost of the 1st check, does that mean we don’t get the 2nd check? It just doesn’t seem fair that I have to stress out go to leaps and bounds, and possibly do work ourselves to save money but the insurance company gets to keep the said saved money. What kind of documentation do we have to send them that the roof was replaced? Do we have to send them our costs? I just want to make sure we do everything correct.

Honestly we don’t’ have the money to replace the roof with the 1st check; we would have to come up with a lot of money upfront. So the only way we are gonna get the roof replaced is if we do some of it ourselves (scary thought), somebody will either work with us, take a delayed payment, or just discount the price to equal the 1st insurance check.

I am in Texas, my son was driving the car, someone hit car from the back (in Texas) (about three weeks back). Someone called police. My son started having headache and back pain,Tthen he went to emergency. He has back pain and neck pain. Pain medications are for temporary relief. Still he has lot of pain but he cannot miss the work. He is going to see doctor again due to pain.
Car damage is not much. However, lot of damage to other car who hit my son’s car from the back. The adjuster from insurance company of the other party called and wants to tow away the car to get it fix.

Is it OK if insurance from other party issues some nominal amount to fix the car? Or, by fixing or accepting this amount the insurance company is not liable for any thing (case closed)? What will happen to medical bills that have started to come in the mail now? The health/is not fix yet and it is hard to predict how long it will take or not? Any advice is helpful. For legal help what I have to do? Thanks.

Seems this question rolls around at least twice a year on Ask Yahoo. The last posting was five months ago, so I’m resubmitting the question in hopes of getting updated information. I am a single parent of one, trying very hard to make it on a single income. I have a court order stating that my ex-husband is to pay $200 per week in child support, but it seems he has fallen off the planet and took his money with him. Instead of paying an attorney $350 per hour in an attempt to find him, file contempt charges and hope he shows up for the hearing, I’ve decided to take the bull by the horns and make an effort to supplement my income by working from home via my computer, etc. Can anyone suggest a work from home company that is not a scam?

I have been an administrative assistant for the past twenty-five years. My experience is immeasurable as I have done:
    Basic clerical work,
Worked for FEMA onsite for four months by processing applications for storm victims for temporary financial assistance and housing. My employer continued to pay salary, travel, meals and living arrangements for employees who would volunteer to assist FEMA.
I can file insurance claims (medical and death) in my sleep.
Property deed and title research vesting, parcel identification, recording information, legal description, assessment and tax status.
Research involved speaking with company management, communicating with external research sources, assessing customer’s, supplier’s, and competitor’s data. Compiled financial data and projections to submit to senior analyst to aid in his investment recommendations.
Created Y2K database for large hospital system in an effort to insure equipment was Y2K compatible.
    Customer Service.

Probably at little more information than you needed, but there might be someone out there that knows of a company that can benefit from my experience.

I AM NOT a good cold caller, nor a salesperson. Not interested in companies that state “for just $29.99 (or some other amount) we will send you our Work from Home book loaded with companies in your area that need help now”. Yeah, right. If a company is looking for help they’re not going to charge you a fee, or require money to get started.

I would be able to put in approximately 15 hours, Monday – Thursday, longer hours on Friday and as much time needed Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you in advance for your help.

What are the differences between the two and

what types of plans are listed under these two groups?

Can any one explain what is the best way to submit a workman’s comp claim in the Peach state, Georgia ? I printed out the “notice of claim ” , form WC – 14, yet i am very scared to just walk into my bosses ( the owner’s ! ) office, and say, ” Here – i want you to submit this claim on your insurance-for-me-workman’s comp account , to the State.” Yet, that is what the Dr.s office Thinks i am supposed to do ! (They are not sure ….??!!) I have a work related , i.e., CAUSED at work , injury, but i have a funny feeling he doesn’t want me to submit it. He knows I have a quote from the Throat Doctor saying it will cost $4,300 plus to do the out-patient surgery, but he never mentioned that workman’s comp is an option. I think he doesn’t want me to put it in. I wonder why …. Can any when give advice here from personal experience, or a trained legal standpoint. Thanks so much.

I was involved in a car accident on the I-75 corridor. I rear ended another vehicle and the front end of my car was damaged. Just a week prior to that incident, another driver hit me in a parking lot. The frame of my vehicle was damaged. Although these were 2 separate accidents, Progressive repaired them at one repair shop. Now 4 months later (December to April), my car is having severe mechanical shut down due to damage from what happened in the front end collision. Repairs were made but the central wiring, which runs across the fan motors on the front end of the car, but the car is still not functioning. The fans don’t run and this overheats the engine and shuts down. My current mechanic is going to liaison for me with the body shop to try to get them to reopen the claim. The real problem is that I changed from Progressive Insurance to Travelers in February. Will the original company work with me? Do they have to as required by law? How do I get a rental car, since I am without transportation? Any help would be appreciated.

I understand Insurance on Accidents as accidents do happen, but sexual abuse is intentional.

Will that not encourage the Abusers?

The program would be to train young people (ages 18 to 25) for free on basic health care, such as CPR, taking blood pressure, etc. Things people should know how to do in an emergency situation or if the situations simply warrants it. Does anyone know of any organizations or companies that would fund this type of thing? I’ve been trying to look but have not come up with anything.

I entered in a contract selling life insurance for a company and I believe it is too unilateral (in their favor). This contract seems more like they own me and they tell me what I mandatorially have to attend (which is funny because the money comes from my pocket not theirs). There is no guarantee of assistance and mo guarantee of pay. You get lectured continously in class (and in this case they continously repeat the same thing, but when they see you are not reaching their goal they are not working to help or even giving answers to help. There is no protection for the employee.

Do you need to have an official organization – whether non-profit or a for-profit corporation – in order to offer services to the public? Or can you offer services without being recognized by the government as an organization?

The services I’m speaking of would include on-line computer services for educational purposes. Providing certain products like personally-made books, etc for sale as well?

I have been planning to launch a non profit organization for roughly two years. At this point in my life, I feel that I am being called to do this and I am completely ready to dedicate myself to helping others 100%. However, I have absolutely no idea how to begin. I have been researching, but it seems that alot of these websites are quite costly, and I would prefer if it was on the cheap end considering I haven’t earned the money to fully fund this yet. I do know that it’s appealing and I have encountered many people who are interested in helping, I just need a little guidance. Any advice/suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated!

nonprofit organization is renting out part of facility to another nonprofit group. Where can I find a rental agreement form? Are there issues that we should be aware of to include in the agreement?

I’m the Treasurer for an international non-profit networking organization, many of whom make their living as self-employed, or would like to be doing so. One of the biggest difficulties is affordable health insurance. Our organization is about 400 members, but there are similar organizations with whom we could partner that might bring that up to 1,000. If we had 75% participation, could we get monthly payments that “real” people can afford? (by this I mean $200-$300 for good coverage with RX, office visits, etc.) Thanks!

Pharmaceutical companies develop and produce life saving drugs.

Hospitals provide facilities for operations and recuperation.

    Doctors provide treatment and care.

Insurance companies just take money out of the system in order to increase their profits. How does that make us healthier?

I moved from AZ to CA and I am retired but very little income. How can I afford to pay for health insurance? Are there any organizations that can suggest places to contact.

I have a small photography business and was asked to provide liability insurance in order to do a shoot at a catering hall. I don’t know where to find this type of insurance, and don’t want to break the bank either. I don’t even know what this kind of insurance is called… can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

What are some trustworthy NON PROFIT organizations that you know for sure are worth donating money to and that will use 100% of the donations toward the cause of protecting animals? I’m looking for organizations dealing with both pets and wild animals, animal abuse, endangered species, etc. I’m planning on starting my own non profit ‘campaign’ of sorts to support a new non profit organization like this each month. I’m starting with animals, but don’t want to donate money to someone who will use it on something completely unhelpful to the actual cause.

The organization will have chapters in various states in the US. Is there a way to register an organization as a non-profit and have chapters under it? Can I get 1 tax id for it or do I have to register each chapter separately? And what is the process?

What exactly is life insurance and how does it work?

I don’t understand, won’t you be dead or something so what does it do for you?

What happens if it doesn’t get cashed in, what does that mean?

Sorry I don’t understand, please explain.

We just opened a nursing agency, the nurses that work with us are not our employees, we contract with them for a period of time, and contract with a medical facility for the nurse’s services. We have checked with 5 different insurance agencies for workman’s compensation, and we have been told that there is no market for workman’s compensation for subcontractors. Workman’s compensation is optional in TX. What other kind of insurance do we need?

I’m not a legal adult, but I want to start a non-profit organization to help the homeless people in my city. How do I go about starting one? Is there any suggestions you can give me? And should I help the homeless people or homeless pets? I care about both causes, but which one should I choose?
    Thanks in advance.

I think Invisible Children is a horrible non-profit organization as well as an extremely annoying one. They only gave 32% of their profits to actually help those poor children last year. So I was wondering, what is the minimal amount of your profit do you have to give away in order to be considered a not-for-profit organization? Please answer as soon as possible, as I have to write an article that’s due Sunday.

Some religious orgnaizations, Cathlic in particular, feel their health insurance plans should not cover the cost of contraception or other related serivces for women because this is against their doctorine. Even though they higher (supposedly) persons of all or no faiths. I feel this is a gross voilation of women’s rights. Opinions?
Try, if you would to see it from a human rights point of view. I wonder if these same organizations offer paid maternity leave? I’m guessing not all.

I am a non-US citizen and need this information to do a case.

    Specifically:
    1) Is health insurance compulsory for everyone?
    2) What happens if someone cannot afford it?
    3) In the event that a medical procedure needs to be done, does health insurance cover all the bills? Does the patient need to pay anything extra?
    4) Does the patient have any say over what kind of procedure he can take? Say if 2 treatments are available for his condition, can the patient choose the more expensive treatment? And if so, is it covered by the insurance?

Thanks for reading this. Your help in answering any part of the questions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks to those who have responded so far.

I would like to further ask:

Does a health insurance contract state that it will only cover the “normal” rates for a procedure? For eg. if there are 2 possible treatments for a disease, 1 of which is more expensive but more effective than the other, will the patient only be covered by the LESS expensive one?

Or is it a case in which the patient can opt for the more expensive one and “top-up” the difference?

This is a crucial question to my understanding the case. Thanks!

We operate a Christian charity organization, called Machanyim, and are looking for ways to raise money for support. Machanyim helps people in need with food, clothing, shelter, employment, counseling, and other physical and spiritual needs. Two of the ideas presented to us so far are a charity golf tournament and a walk-a-thon. Any other good ideas?

I’m just learning about health insurance and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what you think would be the best type of insurance for my situation. I plan on staying here in the UP for a while bar-tending and not utilizing my degree just yet. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it, thanks….This is all new and confusing to me.

I was rear ended last December when someone fell asleep getting off the freeway. Needless to say the driver was moving pretty fast when he hit me. The bumper was replaced along with the rear quarter-panel. The body shop told me that there was only a chip in the frame; no real damage. It is now August and I noticed a wrinkle on the roof of the truck. This makes me think there is frame damage. Can I reopen the claim? Do I contact the body shop of go straight to the Ins. Co.?

Thank you in advance for any and all help!
