If there was a short and understandable book available, would you pay anything for it?

I use to think this when I first was going to college, but I don’t fall for that line anymore. So many colleges try to entice students to sign up with the slogan “you learn more you earn more” which really isn’t true in the real world. I know many people with masters degrees who are unemployable or working for a boss who just has a high school education. My cousin almost has his law degree from a well respected school and can not find a job anywhere when he graduates. So basically he will have a law degree and be unemployable.

It seems how well you perform in the work place means a lot more then how many diplomas and certifications you can hang on your wall.

I am a college grad who has been gainfully underemployed last few years, bachelors & masters degrees. I am sick of trying to find something in my field or pursuing my passion all I want is a decent paying job, a house, a wife, a car, benefits, and some job security. I could care less what it is. As long as I can pay the bills and fit in the middle class bracket I am happy. Maybe I could get one of those ‘dirty jobs’ from the famous TV series.

Any advice how to get a dirty job that pays decent with benefits? Where to look and how to get it?

I don’t care if I have to work in a sewer all day, or wear a hazmat suit, I don’t care if I am crawling in mud, I even don’t care if the job entails cleaning out latrines all day or being covered in horse manure. As long as it pays 30k+ a year with full health benefits and is a long-term job with great job security I am happy. I am tired of settling for the $9/hr jobs with no health benefits, like the job I currently am in. Right now in my life I just care about the salary the job pays and indepenence. For the past 5 years after college I have settled for $9/hr jobs with no health insurance, I can’t do that anymore. I want my independence, I want insurance, I want my own house. i don’t care how dangerous or how dirty the job is. I am so desperate to live the middle class lifestyle I will do just about anything to get it even if it means working a very dangerous job. I would rather risk being killed everyday on the job and live the middle class life, then to continue the $9/hr job living with friends, family, or a roommate.

    Any advice?

My wife and I are interested in becoming tax preparers for next year. Can everything be done online? I’ve seen online classes and they say they will prepare you for a test. Will the IRS conduct this test? Can this test be done online or do I have to travel somewhere far from my house to take this test?

I have researched the basics of getting into real estate such as the classes you need, the cost of the license, the test you need to take, and other legal matters. My main question is, how much money is typically needed to really get going? I live in Georgia, and am pretty sure that the cost of the license is $170.00, and the test is $70.00. I’ve heard that in-person classes range from $700.00-$1000.00, while online classes go between $300.00-$500.00, and that you shouldn’t take the online classes. If someone could elaborate on this, it would be much appreciated. Also, a ballpark estimate of how much money would be needed for other fees that pop-up, such as advertising yourself. I live at home with parents currently, so living expenses would be minimum. Any information would be much appreciated.

I’m 20 years old and have worked in food service since age 16. I would like to pursue a job in retail but most of the stores I applied to said they are only looking for full time employees. One store in particular said they have an opening for a store manager but when they found out I’m attending college in the fall, they lost interest in hiring me. Should I lie and tell them I’m not going to college after all? My parents have the burden of paying my car and insurance payments right now but I would really like to take on responsibility for myself. I don’t know what my class schedule will be like yet but it may be possible for me to work full time and go to school, so what should I tell the store? I really need this job, no one else in or around my small town is hiring.

I’m 24 years old and looking to further my education (I have one degree but am looking into returning to school to take the classes necessary to apply to med schools). I want to apply as an independent because it would help immensely in the financial aid department (I’m not sure I can even go to school without aid), but I also have health problems and couldn’t afford to continue seeing my doctors or taking my medicine without my insurance. My dad said that if I claim myself, I’ll be dropped from his insurance, which I thought wasn’t true under the ACA, but maybe I’m mistaken. So basically, I’m not sure if I need to make a decision between school and healthcare. Does anyone know?
