I just bought Quicken Deluxe 2009 (This is my first personal finance software purchase – I have NO idea what I’m doing). I love that the program can show spending per category, and income information, but I noticed that after linking to my online banking it only includes information for the past month. Is there a way to get the rest of my history on there short of entering it by hand? Should I have waited to install it until Jan 1st?

Okay I know I’m only 17 but I want to start early as possible learning how to manage my finance and just have it to were I can go back and analyze my expenses to make sure I’m not spending carelessly. Oh and if there is and online website for managing personal finance would you use it? Or would it probably be best not to because ppl or the gov can easily see what you’ve been doing or something?
    Any suggestions?

I started using Microsoft Money but it isn’t set up for people who are in trouble. I had to create a catagory for late fees, etc. I has some forcasting capabilities but I want something that can really lay out a budget week by week for us. It would be nice if it even had features for making letters requesting interest knockdowns and such. Does such a personal financing for dummies software kit exist?

I am interested in which personal finance software is a good choice. I want to be able to link my many accounts (several checking, savings, credit card, loans, etc.) accounts easily. All the banks I have offer online syncing, but they don’t all seem to work with any one software. Also, it would be nice to have things such as bills, frequent flier mile programs, and other online accounts easily accessible.

Personal finance software helps you balance your checkbook and manange your finances. What is the name of a popular personal finance program?

  14. Lloyd July 1, 2013 at 2:21 pm #

I am not looking for the most popular, I am looking for the easiest. I am financially challenged and need something easy that I will stick with. I want to make things work and get back on top of my finances.

I need a software program that I can use to budget all my expenses, look at where my money is going, keep all my bills paid on time, etc.

I am going to be a stay at home mom on a budget so I need a good program to help us build our savings. I also want one that isn’t too expensive?

Are Quicken Basic 2007 or Money Deluxe 2007 any good? What do you recommend?

  17. Jalisa July 18, 2013 at 11:41 am #

I had income under 1099 tax form in 2007,I did a poor job of keeping the expences on track for the tax return, my CPA suggested that I track the income and expenses by a software. Do you know any simple program to do the job?

P.S. I checked out Quickbooks and Quicken, they are overkill.

  18. Chae July 27, 2013 at 3:30 pm #

I have really enjoyed quicken on my desktop, but I would like for both me and my husband to have access, preferably from anywhere, which means it would need to be something we can log into online, and on blackberries. I have tried quicken online but the interface is awful. Mint has a great interface but no way to enter pending transactions…
searched thompson and got a bunch of press releases, but nothing about personal financial software.

I would like to get a program so I can see more easily where my money is going… and things of the sort. I think there is a program called Money, and there may be some more. If you have any knowledge on this, I’d like to know what the pros and cons are of managing finances this way and also of the program.

I’m struggling to find any home/personal finance software for managing my money. My computer operates on Windows Vista (with the service packs) and am wondering whether anyone can recommend any software that I can use.

I’m used to Microsoft Money, but as I’ve bought a new laptop that didn’t have it pre-installed, I can’t find MS Money anywhere in the shops.
